Boy Who Aspired To Be Cop Killed Over Jewelry Teen
Gunned Down In Checkers Drive-Through
MIAMI -- Police say a 17-year-old who aspired to be a police officer and who
was a member of the Explorers was killed in a struggle with a robber who was trying to take his jewelry.
Investigators
said Evan Page and Joseph Guy were waiting in a Checkers drive-through Tuesday night when an armed man approached the vehicle.
He robbed Guy, who was driving the car, and then went around to the passenger side of the car where Page was sitting, according
to police.
He opened the door, and when he tried to grab Page's jewelry, the 17-year-old resisted. The robber fired,
hitting Page at point-blank range.
Page was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died early Wednesday morning.
Guy, 29, was not injured.
Police are still searching for the gunman.
Page's grandmother, Luelle Page,
said that she will fast for 40 days and 40 nights to see justice for her grandson.
Page was a member of the Explorers,
a group sponsored by the Boy Scouts and the Miami-Dade Police Department. Former Police Chief and now County Mayor Carlos
Alvarez was once a member of the Explorers.
I am sure that with all that devistation on the Inner
upper Gulf Coast that there may have been one or many Law Enforcement Explorers that died.
Sherwood, Arkansas: Sherwood Police Department remembers
Explorer Sgt Larry Hutton. He was burried in his class A uniform with an honor guard detail and a folded American flag presented
to his family. Explorer Sgt Hutton, was an exceptional explorer that I had the honor of spending a week with at the Explorer
Academy at ALETA. Though his death was not in the line of duty, Hutton would of gladly gave his life for others. And no doubt
would of been an awsome officer. Please remember this young man's family in your prays along with his fellow officers and
explorers. Larry you will be missed but never forgotten. We carry on in your honor.
Blessed are the peace makers for
they shall be called sons of God.
God bless,
Cassie
This happened before I joined the
post (early 90s), but one of our explorers was driving home from a meeting on Interstate 70 and stopped to aid a motorist
who was on the side of the road. She called dispatch and asked for an officer to respond as it was late and getting very dark.
While waiting for the officer, she started conversing with the operator of the disabled motorist. A drunk driver slammed
into the the rear of her car and pinned her in between her own car and the disabled one. When officers arrived and found the
accident, they immediately called for HCFR.
She was in explorers (like most of us) to start a brigh career in law
enforcement. However, the accident left her paralyzed from the waist down. Needless to say, she cannot fufill her lifelong
dream of becoming a police officer.
When I first started as an explorer, she came in to talk to us about how much
the program meant to her and basically be a motivational speaker. Since hearing her story, I have never forgotten how quickly
things can go bad even for us explorers. All I could think about was how she was just like me and now she can never be a police
officer simply because of one event.
**She didn't die but I believe her story deserves to be placed in here** _________________ <center><b><i>"Police
